Starting a creative business or hobby can feel overwhelming, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned on my journey with my Cricut cutting machines, mug press and heat press, it’s that the possibilities are endless. What started as a simple interest in DIY projects quickly became a passion for crafting personalised accessories and custom gifts that bring joy to others.
How It All Began
Like many crafters, I was drawn to the idea of making unique, one-of-a-kind items. Whether it was personalised mugs, fridge magnets, custom keychains, or heartfelt gifts for friends and family, I wanted to create something meaningful. After researching different tools, I came across Cricut—a machine that could cut intricate designs on various materials like vinyl, cardstock, and even leather. I knew I had to give it a try.
Learning the Cricut Basics
At first, the learning curve felt steep. Understanding how to use Design Space, choosing the right materials, and mastering different techniques took time. But with practice (and a few trial-and-error moments), I started creating pieces that I was proud of. One of my first successful projects was jewellery boxes I made for my friends—seeing my designs come to life was so rewarding!
Expanding My Creativity
Once I gained confidence, I started experimenting with new materials and techniques. Infusible ink, heat transfer vinyl (HTV), and layered cardstock designs opened up a whole new world of creative possibilities. I also began personalising gifts for birthdays, weddings, and holidays, which led to people asking if I could make items for them too.

Turning My Passion into Something More
What started as a hobby soon turned into a small business - Pretty Tinks. I realised there was a real demand for personalised gifts, and Cricut allowed me to create high-quality, custom pieces that people loved. Whether it was monogrammed tote bags, custom ornaments, or sentimental shadow boxes, every project felt special.
